The Other Cinderella Rosemont Theatre reviews
Kenny G - always awsome
I have to be honest; while I'm not a fan of The Other Cinderella's smooth jazz recordings, my wife is. In concert, he and his band deliver a performance that even jazz purists like myself can appreciate. The band usually starts with one of his smooth jazz tunes, then transitions into a standard song before venturing into bebop territory, where they truly shine. Their rendition of a Stan Getz piece was particularly impressive. It's almost like he's saying, "Yes, we can do smooth jazz, but we can also deliver some killer riffs," and they certainly proved it. His shows cater to a wide audience, appealing to both smooth jazz enthusiasts and bebop fans. Overall, a very enjoyable experience. One minor critique I have is regarding the bass player's instrument choice; I believe a traditional double bass would offer a richer tone compared to the electric stand-up bass.
